A trip to the mountains

Dolomitas

The most beautiful mountains you can imagine, craggy rock faces rising defiantly from the verdant valleys. This is the Dolomites, an ideal playground brimming with routes to enjoy. From easy walks and climbs to dizzying via ferratas steeped in history that transport us to a war-torn past. If you love experiencing the mountains in their purest form, this is undoubtedly the place for you. Follow in the footsteps of legendary adventurers and embark on a journey to the heart of the mountains.

The Dolomites are a mountain range in Italy that stretches across the provinces of Belluno, Bolzano, Trento, Udine, and Pordenone. They are very different from the rest of the Alps in appearance and are characterized by the verticality of their rock faces, which are a distinctive white color that turns pinkish at dawn and in the late afternoon. Since 2009, they have been considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

They are composed of different mountain groups separated from each other by majestic valleys and mountain passes such as the Passo Pordoi, Passo DeSella, and Passo Falzarego. The mountain groups range from the Brenta Dolomites to the group formed by the Catinaccio and the Latemar, straddling South Tyrol and Trentino; from the Sesto Dolomites to the Pale di San Martino; from the Marmolada to the group composed of Pelmo and Croda da Lago, reaching the Friulian Dolomites, the easternmost of all.

Some of these mountains stand out from the rest: Marmolada, at 3,342m, is the queen of the Dolomites. The iconic Tre Cime di Lavaredo (3,244m), at 2,999m, is the setting for dizzying climbs. Other notable peaks include La Toffane (3,244m), Monte Pelmo (3,169m), Monte Civetta (3,220m), Sassolungo (3,181m), and Sass Pordoi (2,950m).

The possibilities for outdoor activities are endless. The Via Ferrata routes, which traverse the mountains and provide access to some of the most prized peaks, are particularly spectacular, although they do require specific equipment and some mountaineering experience. Likewise, it's a perfect destination for cycling, hiking, and climbing, and during the winter it's a true paradise for snow sports, boasting some of the best ski resorts in all of Europe.
